Great Ocean Road — What Time and Light Reveal

The Great Ocean Road is a landscape in constant transformation. Along the Port Campbell coast, limestone cliffs have been shaped for millions of years by the Southern Ocean, gradually forming caves, arches and sea stacks.

I was fascinated by the light, the raw energy of the ocean, and the visible force of erosion. Since it was forbidden to move beyond the marked paths and viewpoints, I had to work within strict limits, waiting for the landscape to reveal itself through weather, distance and changing light. Some of the places I photographed from have since eroded or collapsed.

For me, these images are not only about nature’s beauty, but about impermanence — a coastline being shaped and reshaped before our eyes.
