Artist Profile
Inge Norum is a Norwegian fine art photographer based in Norway. Since 2018, he has worked full-time as an artist, developing long-term photographic projects for exhibitions, private collections and architectural spaces.
His work is rooted in a deep interest in light, time, atmosphere and perception. Norum often returns to the same subject over long periods, allowing changes in season, weather and light to shape the final image. His photographs frequently move between the documentary and the poetic, combining technical precision with a quiet, analogue sensibility.
Norum’s artistic practice draws on more than 40 years of professional experience in photography, digital imaging, fine art printing and large-scale art production. His background as a photographer, producer and digital imaging specialist has given him an unusually strong understanding of the entire photographic process — from capture and interpretation to material, scale and final presentation.
Since turning fully towards fine art photography, he has developed several photographic projects in Norway and internationally, with works acquired for private collections, architectural spaces and public-facing interiors.

2024 — Sold six large-scale photographs, measuring 150 × 220 cm, for the main office of Franzefoss, Bærum, Norway.

Norum has worked on photographic projects across Africa, Europe, Asia and Oceania, including South Africa, Kenya, Zanzibar, the Seychelles, the Maldives, Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Norway.
His underwater photography includes projects from Raja Ampat, Alami Alor, Wakatobi, Palau Siladen, the Banda Sea, Sulawesi, Gam/Papua Explorers and the Maldives.
He has also worked with travel photography for international high-end hotels and destinations.

Fine Art Production and Consultancy
Alongside his own artistic practice, Norum has extensive experience as a fine art producer and consultant. Between 1990 and 2020, he produced and printed more than 100 fine art exhibitions for artists, museums and galleries. Several of these projects also involved curatorial guidance, image selection and artistic consultancy.
Between 2000 and 2020, he produced approximately 60 large-scale fine art decorations for public and private buildings in Norway and internationally.
His work as a producer and consultant has included repro photography, colour correction, digital restoration, large-format printing, material testing, technical production and the development of solutions for complex architectural art projects.

A few Selected Special Projects
1998–2000 — Responsible for the artistic production of fine art (the artist Marianne Heske) for the Norwegian Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany. One of the works was a 1,350 m² image covering the walls, ceiling and floor inside the pavilion, printed on aluminium. The original is a 24×36mm scan from
2002 — Responsible for the artistic production of the fine art exhibition for the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and Park City. The client was Olympic Aid.
2002–2006 — Scanned, retouched and produced digital files for Pushwagner, including work on his iconic self-portrait containing 23,000 human figures.
2012 — Produced DYNAMO by Nina Bang for Sam Eyde High School in Arendal: a 150 m² digital print on film, mounted on the interior glass facade of the school’s entrance area. The hight of the artwork is reaching up to 20 meter above ground level.
2013 — Responsible for repro photography, colour correction, consultants and production of six large paintings for Edvard Munch 150, at the time the most visited exhibition in Norwegian history, with almost 500.000 visitors.
2016 — Assisted Statsbygg in developing a solution for a fine art floor installation in the new NTNU building in Trondheim. The final solution was a 70 m² artwork printed on glass beneath the lounge area. The clients were Ole Lislerud and Statsbygg.
2017–2020 — Developed the production solution and production for an outdoor fine art decoration at Glommasvingen School in Norway: 130 m² of printing on glass. The clients were KORO, Jenny Alnæs and Sør-Odal Municipality.
2019 — One of the principal photographers for Lofoten Vibe, a large-format photographic art book published in English and Norwegian.
Selected interior art projects — Responsible for art decoration in the Prime Minister’s residence in Oslo.
Publishing and design — Produced several artist books and publications, and worked extensively with design, image retouching and final artwork for film posters, including Body Troopers, Sophie’s World, Head Above Water, Gurin with the Foxtail, Man of War and several others.
Music
Norum has worked as a drummer and percussionist across a wide range of musical genres. He has been active as a freelance musician since 1977 and worked professionally from 1980 to 1985. He remains active as a performing musician.
