Franzefoss Bruk — What Light Reveals

This series is made at Franzefoss Bruk, the old limestone mill in Bærum. Over a longer period,  I returned to the building again and again, allowing changing light, weather and time to alter my perception of the place.

The structure appears brutal at times, poetic at others, and occasionally almost beautiful. In its state of decay, the building moves between ruin and monument, between industrial memory and something strangely musical. Looking at its construction, one can almost hear echoes of Stockhausen and Stravinsky — rhythm, dissonance, repetition and force.

Rather than documenting the building as it is, the project becomes an observation of how light alters perception. Each visit creates a new version of the place — sometimes harsh, sometimes fragile, sometimes unexpectedly beautiful. In this shifting light, the building is no longer only a ruin, but a surface for our own imagination. We begin to construct our own history, shaped by what the light allows us to see, and by what it leaves in shadow.
